PREPPING - next foundart series

As i posted recently I have rejigged this project as i am due to travel soon.

This project began in 2007 and stalled by 2017. See comments here from 'finders' in previous years during travels to Italy and Switzerland.

So, i grabbed some matboard offcuts and proceeded to collage all over the lengths. I drew on my collage paper stash without much thought and used fragments of old drawings, local maps, stitching graph paper, gelli prints, dressmakers patterns, sand! (from our local beach), text from a dictionary and a manga booklet from Japan.

Having covered 8 strips of matboard offcuts i proceeded to cut them up into 'card' size ... the sizes are random depending on the width and length of the offcut. This provided me with 53 pieces!

Here are a few examples - some MAY be already finished but most will require something else.

Now to finish them off - with something.  what ?  yet to be thought through.  I will keep you updated.  I will also be creating a label for the back which tells the finder they have found art and direct them to this site to comment on the piece and where they found it.

The project requires me to 'lose' a piece (or 2) a day, during my travels and photograph where i dropped it, post it on this dedicated foundarts site and hope the finder will comment. fun!

Before creating this dedicated foundarts site you can find A potted history of foundart series here

and just for fun .. check out what AI said when asked if i was the first ever to create such a project.

Your thoughts ?

2016 Sydney foundart series wrap up

A lovely trip to catch up with family. Left Tasmania on Christmas Day and spent 14 days with much loved ones at Balmoral Beach.   A wonderful time.   Foundart series was conducted - The plan was to lose 2 a day so 28 pieces were created.  see post here and here is #1 that was lost on Christmas Day.  It was fitting that a small section of a painting by Nolan? was part of the first one that was to be the Sydney series. There were a few emails that 'found' me after individuals had found a piece and took the time to let me know - thank you !  29 May 2016 - email and comment on the site Bought A Mountain has left a new comment on your post "foundart series Sydney 2015 #18": I found this work. I'm a curator and now it is amongst my own little collection of artworks at home. My friends thought it was quite funny; I am now looking for interesting works so much that I come across them on city strolls and upon the ground. I thought this was a great pro...

FOUNDART SERIES - since 2007

FOUNDART SERIES This is now the blog for ALL my foundart series.  I have migrated all the previous blogs (3) created into this one place for all my foundart series. I will create little pointers and pages that may help to delineate one series from another and other types of sub-files.  Bringing it all together into one place online. It began with the idea of 'making' artworks whilst travelling which turned into making a heap of small artworks before leaving, 'losing' them on my travels and photographing them where they were placed. The back of each piece had a label that told the finder they had found an original piece of art and to log into the website to tell of their find.  The idea morphed into its own way of 'being' as time went on. I first started doing foundart in 2007 when I travelled via Melbourne & Hong Kong to visit my daughter in Zurich, Switzerland which also took us on a tangent to Umbria Italy. The blog was called 'From Tassi...
